Central Sync Node Relay (What Server Sees)

The server receives only an opaque ciphertext blob. Server operators, hosting providers, or hackers have zero ability to decrypt your credentials.

Cryptographic Device Peering

A rogue actor with your login handle cannot automatically sync your passwords on a new machine. The new device must be authorized by your original installation.

1

New Device Requests Pairing

When you install OmniVault on a new phone or laptop, it registers an ephemeral device ID and displays a unique 6-digit pairing code.

2

Original Installation Notified

Your primary desktop receives an interactive notification showing the incoming device name, platform, and matching pairing code.

3

Confirmed & Synced

Once you click "Authorize", the central node issues an active device session token. Both devices now sync encrypted blobs seamlessly.

Everything Built For Privacy First

A modern password manager engineered with defense-in-depth principles.

Zero-Knowledge Cryptography

Double PBKDF2 hashing prevents server database compromise from ever leaking your master password or authentication hash.

Watchtower Security Auditing

Real-time client-side password strength auditing detecting weak, reused, and compromised passwords before breaches occur.

Integrated 2FA Authenticator

Built-in RFC 6238 TOTP engine generating 6-digit rolling codes with automated clipboard copying and countdown timers.

Multi-Container Vaults

Segment personal, work, financial, and shared credentials into isolated containers with customizable categories.

Global Quick-Access Popover

System-wide hotkey (⌘+Shift+V or Ctrl+Shift+V) to search and instant-copy credentials without breaking your workflow.

Offline-First Architecture

Access and search all your credentials offline. Encrypted revisions merge automatically once your connection resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is my actual password data stored?
Your data sits directly on your own device in encrypted local storage. When syncing across devices, your machine encrypts the vault with AES-256-GCM before transmitting ciphertext blobs through the sync node.
What happens if someone steals my sync password?
Even with your credentials, an unauthorized device cannot sync your vault because it requires device confirmation from your original installation. Furthermore, without your master encryption key (which is never sent to the server), encrypted blobs cannot be read.
Can OmniVault operators read my passwords?
No. The cryptographic design is strictly zero-knowledge. Plaintext passwords never leave your client device's memory. Even a complete server database breach yields only encrypted ciphertext.
Can I self-host the central sync node for free?
Yes! OmniVault is 100% open source under the MIT License. You can run the lightweight Node.js sync server on your own VPS, Raspberry Pi, Docker, or free cloud tier with zero subscription costs forever.
If OmniVault is open source, why do you charge for Pro & Business?
OmniVault's codebase is 100% MIT Open Source. If you host the Node.js sync server yourself, multi-device syncing is completely free. We charge for Pro and Business subscriptions strictly to cover the server hosting, bandwidth, global high-availability redundancy, SSL maintenance, and managed cloud infrastructure so you don't have to manage your own server.
How does profile entitlement & paid sync activation work?
All account-related details, user settings, and entitlement flags sit directly on your user profile. On the free tier, the cloud sync feature flag on your profile remains turned OFF. Once a paid Pro or Business license is activated on your account profile, the cloud sync flag toggles ON automatically, unlocking end-to-end encrypted cloud sync across your authorized devices.
